Public discussion "Topical aspects of criminal law and criminal policy in Germany, Georgia and Europe"

On January 12, 2024, the TSU Faculty of Law organizes a public discussion on the topic – "Topical aspects of criminal law and criminal policy in Germany, Georgia and Europe", which will be led by Prof. Dr. Bernd Heinrich from the University of Tübingen and Prof. Dr. Martin Heger from the Humboldt University of Berlin.  

 

At the event, Prof. Dr. Heinrichs’s and Prof. Dr. Heger's Honorary Doctorate Award Ceremony will be held.

 

The venue -  TSU, 1st academic building, the museum.

 

Event date - January 12, 2024, 1:00 p.m.

 

Working languages are Georgian and German (Georgian translation will be provided).

 

Anyone interested in the event is welcome to attend.

 

Prof. Dr. Bernd Heinrich will deliver a report on the topic - "Punishability of attempted crime according to German and Georgian law - the results obtained from the German-Georgian project in 2006-2010 in relation to the general part of criminal law; Prof. Dr. Martin Heger will deliver a report on the topic - "Sustainability-oriented economic criminal law as a challenge for legal science and criminal policy in Europe".

 

About the speakers:

Prof. Dr. Bernd Heinrich and Prof. Dr. Martin Heger have been cooperating with the TSU for many years and have been carrying out scientific and research activities in Georgia. In particular, since 2006, they have been co-organizers of the "Netzwerk Ost-West" exchange seminar for students of the Faculty of Law of the Humboldt University of Berlin; Supervisors of the Georgian doctoral students at the Humboldt University of Berlin and the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen and hosts of many Georgian visiting scientists; Participants of many conferences and meetings in Georgia. In addition, they are the co-founders and co-editors of the German-Georgian Journal of Criminal Law (DGStZ) and the Georgian-German Journal of Digital Criminal Law Terms (DGDSG); Parters of 2016-2021 German-Georgian criminal law project - "Criminal procedural law of Georgia under the influence of European and international law"; Advisors of the Parliament of Georgia; the head of the conference of German and Georgian criminal law professors "Criminal Law Science in the United Europe" with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the heads and participants of numerous summer schools and projects implemented in Georgia.
